Before your carpet installation
Prepare for your carpet installation by first removing all furniture, electronics, and wall hangings from the rooms and closets. Since carpet cannot be installed over an existing surface, the current floors will need to be removed and disposed of entirely. Carpet requires a completely level subfloor so all imperfections will need to be repaired. Once your subfloor is assessed, you are ready for installation.

Carpet installation process
On the day of your new carpet installation, plan to stay home to answer any questions that arise for your installation crew. Designate an area in the home for the crew to keep installation tools such as nail guns and knee kickers, store carpet rolls before they are installed, as well as cut carpet to size as needed. Keep all children and pets away from the installer’s area and rooms receiving new carpet. Establish adequate ventilation in the home as suggested by the installers.
Once your new carpet is installed, it’s important to wait for the appropriate amount of time recommended by your installers before the carpet can receive foot traffic or return furniture. Always lift furniture or use appropriate moving equipment with rollers when bringing pieces onto the new carpet. As you begin vacuuming your new carpet, you will experience the normal amount of shedding for roughly the first month after installation.
