Before your luxury vinyl installation
Prepare for your installation by first removing all furniture, electronics, and wall hangings from the rooms and closets. Since many luxury vinyl products offer floating floor capability, the current floors may not need to be removed and disposed of entirely! If a floating luxury vinyl floor is being installed, you need to remove the doors and potentially shave down the bottoms to achieve full range of motion. Once your subfloor is assessed, you are ready for installation!

Luxury vinyl installation process
On the day of your new luxury vinyl installation, plan to stay home to answer any questions that arise for your installation crew. Designate an area in the home for the crew to keep installation tools such as hammers and saws, store boxes of flooring before they are installed, as well as cut pieces to size as needed. Keep all children and pets away from the installer’s area and rooms receiving new luxury vinyl. Establish adequate ventilation in the home as suggested by the installers.
Once your new luxury vinyl is installed, it’s important to wait for the appropriate amount of time recommended by your installers before the floors can receive foot traffic or return furniture. Many floating floors are ready for light traffic immediately after! Always lift furniture or use appropriate moving equipment with rollers to avoid scratches when bringing pieces into the rooms. We also recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavy furniture to reduce impact.
